DAYTON, Ohio, March 3, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CareSource, a leading regional nonprofit health plan, recently named Steve Swart Executive Director, West Virginia. In his role, Swart will provide strategy and leadership to the company’s operations and team in West Virginia.
The newly created executive role is designed to align with the company’s health care coverage growth and additional expansion opportunities in West Virginia. CareSource’s growth is a result of an innovative business model that supports consumers to provide them with unparalleled consumer experiences that fulfill their health care needs.
CareSource expanded its Marketplace coverage to the state of West Virginia in 2016 following successful enrollment cycles in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. CareSource’s successful 2016 Marketplace enrollment signaled consumer confidence in the company’s proven track record. CareSource will continue its commitment to West Virginia consumers in 2017 by expanding the CareSource Marketplace coverage beyond the current 10-county footprint and responding to the state’s request for quotations to serve Medicaid consumers.
Swart has an extensive executive leadership background in health care administration. He comes to CareSource from the Robert C. Byrd Clinic at the School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia where he served as CEO/CFO.

Swart earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting and Pre-Law from Ohio University. He currently serves on the boards for the West Virginia Primary Care Association and Kanawha Hospice Care. Swart has also served as the Board Chair for the Health CO-OP of West Virginia and was a founding board member for the West Virginia Family Health Plan.
