DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 7, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CareSource, a nonprofit health plan, announces Dan Hounchell as the new Vice President, Operations Ohio Market. Hounchell will be responsible for executing the vision and strategy for the Ohio market, ensuring CareSource is the industry leader in member and provider engagement.
Hounchell joins CareSource at a time of rapid growth for Ohio and other markets—Indiana, Georgia, Kentucky, and West Virginia. In Ohio, CareSource now serves 1.3 million Medicaid members, has enrolled more than 75,000 consumers in its Marketplace plans, and will introduce a Medicare Advantage plan for 2017 coverage. In addition, CareSource has been the launch pad for the innovative Life Services division and transformational care management model Care4U.
An experienced executive in the health care industry, Hounchell previously served at HealthSpan Partners as Chief Strategy and Administrative Officer. In that capacity he led the development of the insurance entities for the Mercy Health system. Before that, he was instrumental in the development of Mercy’s statewide accountable care organization. Hounchell has a background in operations, legal affairs and contract management in the payer industry.
“Dan’s industry background in health partner relations, clinical integration and population health positions him well to be a strong leader for CareSource’s Ohio market operations,” said Steve Ringel, CareSource Ohio Market President.
Hounchell has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Juris doctorate from the University Of Dayton School Of Law.
