DAYTON, Ohio, Oct. 10, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CareSource, a nonprofit health plan, will begin serving Ohio consumers with Medicare Advantage coverage. The health plan is now offering a lifetime of care to Ohioans with coverage including Medicaid, Health Insurance Marketplace, MyCare Ohio and Medicare Advantage.
CareSource’s Medicare Advantage plans, an alternative to traditional Medicare, will be the only new option offered in 14 Ohio counties for 2017 coverage. There are 1.1 million Ohioans eligible to enroll in CareSource Medicare Advantage plans in the upcoming annual election period, which takes place from October 15 through December 7.
CareSource enters the Medicare Advantage market in Ohio after serving the state for 27 years with a unique, mission-based model for providing health care coverage. With 1.3 million members in Ohio, CareSource is the state’s largest Medicaid managed care plan, Health Insurance Marketplace plan, and MyCare Ohio plan.

During the annual election period for Medicare Advantage, Medicare eligible consumers can change health plans or move from traditional Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicare Advantage coverage begins January 1, 2017.
