DAYTON, Ohio and INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 10, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CareSource, a non-profit health plan, announces that its Medicare Advantage plan service area in Indiana is increasing by 72% for 2017 coverage. With this expansion, CareSource will now be offering more Hoosiers a lifetime of health care.
First introduced last year in 33 counties, the CareSource Medicare Advantage plans will now be available to consumers in 57 Indiana counties. In those 57 counties there are 700,000 Hoosiers eligible to enroll in a CareSource Medicare Advantage plan in the upcoming annual election period, which takes place October 15 through December 7, 2016.
The Medicare Advantage expansion comes at a time when CareSource, a nonprofit with a 27-year history, is experiencing rapid growth in Indiana. In addition to Medicare Advantage, CareSource has increasingly expanded its Health Insurance Marketplace plan service area to more Hoosiers since launching in the state three years ago. Recently it was announced that CareSource was the only new health plan selected by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration to administer health care services for those who enroll in the Health Indiana Plan and Hoosier Healthwise programs, beginning January 2017. The expanded Medicare Advantage plan coverage area is an extension of CareSource’s mission to make a lasting impact in the lives of its members.
“Offering CareSource Medicare Advantage plans in more counties allows us to extend our coverage to more Hoosiers,” said Steve Smitherman, CareSource Executive Director for Indiana. “Now CareSource is offering more Hoosiers a lifetime of care—this means serving our members throughout their lives.”
During the annual election period for Medicare Advantage, Medicare eligible consumers can change health plans or move from traditional Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicare Advantage coverage begins January 1, 2017.
