Albany, NY, Aug. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CDPHP has received the highest honor for workplace health from the American Heart Association. Results from the American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index were announced today and CDPHP received “Gold Level” recognition for taking significant steps to build a culture of health and wellness in the workplace.
The American Heart Association created the Index in collaboration with more than 40 CEOs from some of America’s largest companies. The Index uses science-based best practices to evaluate the overall quality and comprehensiveness of workplace health programs.
“As a physician-founded health plan deeply committed to improving the health of our community, CDPHP understands that we need to walk the walk inside these four walls,” said CDPHP president and CEO, Dr. John D. Bennett. “Health and wellness is not just a catchphrase for our organization. It’s part of our mission and it starts with our employees,” added Bennett.
CDPHP employees enjoy access to a free on-site fitness center featuring dozens of fitness classes and wellness programs, on-site cafeteria that offers a variety of nutritious options that support a healthy lifestyle, flu shot clinics, health screenings, mammography days, smoking cessation program, and more. In addition, CDPHP was recently named one of the Best Companies to Work for in New York for the 10th consecutive year by the NYS Society for Human Resource Management.
The American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index allows companies to measure the effectiveness of their workplace health programs, as well as the overall heart health of their employees. Unlike other existing organizational scorecards, the Index also scores companies on the heart health of their employees. The American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index assessment is grounded in data-driven science and a quality improvement framework.
