NEW YORK, Sept. 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Fidelis Care and the New York Liberty honored four individuals with the Caring New Yorker award on September 13 at Madison Square Garden. Honorees were each presented on court with a commemorative plaque during the New York Liberty versus Washington Mystics game. The Caring New Yorker award honors community leadership and commitment to caring for those in need.
The 2016 Caring New Yorker honorees are:
Tina Murphy: Ms. Murphy is the Co-Executive Director of the Staten Island Giving Circle, a large community outreach group dedicated to assisting the disadvantaged and/or underserved in the community. Mrs. Murphy is very active in charitable causes and has initiated many of the projects that the Giving Circle takes on. Working with Fidelis Care, Mrs. Murphy has spearheaded several initiatives that benefit the community.
Isabel Villar: Dedicated to bettering the community around her, Ms. Villar co-founded El Centro Hispano in White Plains, a community organization that offers a variety of social service programs to the Hispanic residents of White Plains and Westchester County. Ms. Villar has dedicated her time to enhancing the lives of children and families through education, but her commitment far extends the classroom.
Debrah Garcia: Ms. Garcia has been the Chief Executive Officer of L.I. Child and Family Development Services, Inc. (Long Island Head Start) since December 2004. As the CEO, she has directed and led Long Island Head Start into the bright spotlight where it sits today. Her vision to become the highest quality childcare and family support services organization on Long Island has allowed Long Island Head Start to make an impact in various communities throughout Suffolk County.
Daryl Johnson: Mr. Johnson is the Deputy Assistant Vice President of Clinical Operations at Community Healthcare Network, a New York Presbyterian Healthcare System. Daryl has been with the organization for the last 11 years. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of five health centers, including The Dr. Betty Shabazz Health Center, which is close to the neighborhood he grew up in. Daryl believes in giving back to the community and has partnered with Fidelis Care countless times to that end.
