BOSTON, Oct. 24, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TrueMotion, the leading provider of turnkey, smartphone Usage Based Insurance (UBI) technology, announced that the demonstration of its TrueMotion Family app was voted Best in Show by attendees at Digital Insurance magazine’s Insurance Analytics & AI 2017 event.

More than 250 executives and senior managers involved with leading AI, big data and analytics efforts for their organization attended the event, which convened the analytics experts, AI visionaries and big data practitioners who are transforming insurance. The event featured 11 demonstrations that focused on revealing the effectiveness and impact of their solution to real-world problems faced by the insurance industry. The demo, presented by co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Brad Cordova, was selected as the Best in Show from this group.

Cordova demonstrated TrueMotion Family, a mobile app that engages the whole family to become safer and more responsible drivers by using the sensors built into mobile phones to track distracted driving and other risky behaviors. The app scores and ranks each driver and shares the results with each member of the family, allowing family members to compete for who’s safest. Cordova showed and explained how TrueMotion uses machine learning, artificial intelligence and data science to translate data from the phone to identify the driver and to provide actionable insights to his or her driving behaviors.

TrueMotion also offers a fully hosted, turnkey solution for insurers that includes a downloadable mobile app that captures and helps improve driver behavior; a big data platform that provides clean, comprehensive driving records, driver scores and analytics; and management and analytics dashboard that allows an insurance company’s UBI team and customer service representatives to deploy, manage and track a UBI program.

According to data generated by thousands of TrueMotion users, more than 75 percent reduce distracted driving after installing the app, dramatically reducing the risk of accidents and injury.

“It’s great to see Brad and our technology recognized not only for innovation, but also for impact,” said Ted Gramer, CEO of TrueMotion. “We’re on a mission to use smartphone technology to solve the problem of smartphone distraction, and it’s an honor to have received this award.”
